“And now, dear children, continue in Him, so that when He appears we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.”
1 John 2:28
I once read in a book by Francis Chan a story about his grandmother-in-law, Grandma Clara. Francis and his wife took Grandma Clara to play. At intermission, He leaned over and asked her if she was enjoying it. Her response? “Oh honey, I’d rather not be here right now. If the Lord came back, I’d rather he not find me in a theater, but rather out serving others.”
Isn’t that convicting? Are we thinking every moment of every day about how we’d feel if the Lord came back at that very moment? What if Jesus came back while you were speaking a mean word or jeering at the slow driver on the road or shopping online for your favorite perfume and makeup. And, of course, some things in life are justifiable. But how much time are we spending and how many actions are we doing that glorify Jesus? I would personally say that less than 10% of the time, I am doing something that the Lord would smile upon if He came back that very moment.
What percent of your life is reflecting Jesus?
